Orhan Sevim Matra Motor Yenileme Sanayi A.Ş. was founded by Mr. Orhan Sevim in 1958. Back in the time, Mr. Sevim went to Germany to purchase the first crankshaft grinding machine of our company. The brand of this grinder was Matra and it was the best engine reconditioning machinery brand of that era. Since Mr. Sevim was a fan of that brand, he kindly asked their permission so that he can put ”Matra” name for our company.

Line Boring
Founder of our company Mr. Orhan Sevim (in white shirt) and our former technicians are checking the line boring of 6700 mm long and 2500 hp Ruston Paxman bedplate in our workshop. Back in those days, line boring of such size engine was considered large-sized.

Crankshaft Grinding
Founder of our company, Mr. Orhan Sevim (on right) and our former technician are inspecting crankshaft grinding of 4700 mm long, 8 cylinder Deutz 545 in our workshop located in European side of Istanbul. This workshop is still active and working on reconditioning of small size diesel engines.

Our capacity is constantly increasing with annual investments and Matra became one of the largest engine reconditioning and machining workshop in the world. In year 2025, our third workshop located next to our Tuzla workshop will be opened and total capacity will reach to 8000 sqm. Matra will be one of the largest one stop workshop in the world for marine and energy industry.
