Line boring is an application we apply when ovality or misalignment is detected on the main bearing journal bores of the engine block. This can happen with many reasons but mostly it happens because of bearing failure. This can be solved with in-line boring. Depending on the alignment and internal bore diameter measurements, Matra offers 3 solutions:

• Machining of cap mating surfaces and re-boring of main journal to standard size
• Machining of cap mating surfaces and re-boring of main journal to oversize (hard to find bearings for most of the engines)
• Machining of cap mating surfaces, laser cladding of bearing pockets and re-boring of main journal to standard size. (both in Matra workshop and On-site)
